March 11, 2005
Dear Friends,
I am very pleased to
announce that Joe Williams will be our next principal at Rancho
Cotate High School. Mr. Willliams’ appointment was approved
by the Board of Trustees on March 8, 2005. As many of you are aware,
Mitchell Carter announced his resignation earlier this year to seek
other professional opportunities.
Mr. Williams comes to
the Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District from the Lodi Unified
School District where he currently serves as the Vice Principal
at Bear Creek High School.
Mr. Williams’
professional background includes experience as a High School Math
Teacher, Football and Baseball coach, Math Department Chair, High
School Assistant Principal, District Technology Coordinator, Middle
School Principal and Assistant Director of Assessment for the Missouri
Department of Education.
Mr. Williams holds a
Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, and a Master
of Arts degree in Secondary Mathematics/Curriculum and Instruction,
both from the University of Missouri. He also holds credentials
in Mathematics and Administrative Services.
This past week I visited
the school where Mr. Williams currently works in Stockton and the
opportunity to talk with teachers, classified staff, students and
parents. In talking with small groups and individuals, some of the
terms staff and students used to describe Mr. Williams were “a
man of action,” “positive and responsive,” “excellent
listener,” “supportive of staff,” “treats
all as equals,” “available and communicative,”
“calm,” “well prepared,” “works well
with all departments,” “ negotiator-involves others
in decision-making,” “good sense of humor,” “smart
and organized.”
We will be scheduling
a time in the near future for Mr. Williams to be on campus and introduced.
We will also be scheduling time for Mr. Williams to confer with
the RCHS administrative team to ensure a smooth transition.
Please join me in welcoming
Mr. Williams to our district. I know that the members of the Rancho
Cotate High School community will welcome Mr. Williams and support
his success.
Mike Watenpaugh,
Superintendent
