Description

At Rancho Cotate High School the professional faculty and staff are committed to providing an outstanding educational experience and quality service. They believe all students can learn and should have the opportunity to develop intellectually, physically and emotionally within an environment that promotes respect. Students are encouraged to develop a desire for knowledge and to become thoughtful, responsible, and contributing members of society. Rancho Cotate High School provides a rigorous and relevant comprehensive instructional program that enables students to be successful, now, and in the future.

Graduation Requirements

Students must successfully complete a minimum of 220 semester units of course work in grades 9-12. Each semester course carries 5 units of credit. Students must also complete 40 hours of community service and pass the district minimum competency examinations in reading, writing and mathematics.

By graduation we expect all students to be

Reflective, self-directed learners who know how to acquire, organize and process information, use a wide variety of resources appropriately, and set goals for high school and beyond.

Critical thinkers who analyze, synthesize and evaluate information, develop strategies for solving issues and problems, and use logical and effective decision-making processes.

Healthy individuals who possess a strong sense of self and place in the larger community, use leisure time creatively and meaningfully, and demonstrate knowledge of physical and mental health.

Skilled individuals who have mastered the basic skills of reading, writing and computations, and apply knowledge to real-life situations.

Active team members who contribute and function in various group roles, demonstrate positive conflict resolution skills, and assume leadership and supporting roles to accomplish goals.

Community contributors who act in a socially responsible way, recognize and affirm the dignity and worth of every individual, and become effective stewards of our planet and its people.

Effective communicators who speak, read, write, and listen thoughtfully and critically, use and appreciate artistic expression, and use current technology to produce quality presentations.
