ROHNERT PARK, CA – The Board of Trustees of the Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District and Superintendent Dr. Robert A. Haley are inviting community members and the press to attend the official Richard Crane Elementary School Groundbreaking Ceremony on April 14, 3:30 p.m. This event will be held near the front of the campus. Opportunities to view ongoing construction will be provided.
WLC Architects is working with Wright Contracting and district staff to complete the project which is being funded through developer fees and district bond funds. When it is complete, the campus will have a new kindergarten building and fully remodeled classroom buildings, library and office. Additionally, there will be new playgrounds and safety enhancements throughout the campus. The project includes new technology and modern research-based furniture for staff and students. The school is designed to support an instructional design based on team teaching and project-based instruction. The learning environments are connected and the school includes outdoor learning spaces as well.
The school reopening addresses the urgent need to replace outdated and aging facilities and will accommodate future enrollment growth due to new housing developments in the Rohnert Park University District and other developments throughout the school district. The school will operate on a year-round calendar and students from around the district and from outside the district are encouraged to apply for admission.
The project is part of an ongoing district-wide facilities plan to modernize schools, update technology infrastructure and ensure safe, well-maintained classrooms and facilities for all students.
